The long awaited launch of the iPhone on Verizon Wireless is upon us. Verizon’s version of Apple’s iPhone4 was available for pre-order last Monday and will hit Verizon and Apple retail stores Feb. 10, exciting some area Verizon managers who expect increases in sales.
Billy Gerweck, one of Mr. Williams’ store managers, said there are two main reasons Verizon customers get better cell phone reception. Managers at some Verizon stores anticipate the iPhone to increase foot traffic in their stores, adding to overall sales. “A lot of people are sold on the idea of the iPhone rather than the iPhone itself,” he said. Verizon’s iPhone will cost the same as AT&T’s — $199 for the 16 gigabyte model and $299 for the 32 gigabyte model. Verizon also charges a $35 activation fee.
But AT&T customers who want the Verizon iPhone will have to pay a little more. AT&T’s termination fees depend on whether customers began their contract before or after June 1, 2010, and when they purchased the iPhone. If you bought the iPhone before December, the fee would be reduced by $10 for each month you’ve owned it. Eric Marx, 24, of Ridge, who has a Verizon Blackberry, never bought the iPhone through AT&T after hearing friends complain about service issues.

A new application for the iPhone will encourage use of the gym

Nokia launches Music service for Lumia owners
A Scandinavian smackdown could be on the way thanks to the new Nokia Music+ service that the Finnish company has unveiled - tempting Lumia users away from the likes of Spotify and Last.fm.
The service will sit on top of the already outstanding Nokia Mix Radio and let users cache an unlimited number of playlists as well as skipping and downloads - all for the princely sum of £3.99 a month.
“Nokia Music is great for discovering new music, and we’ve found that there’s a core of users that want even more of it. This is how Nokia Music+ came about. By introducing features like infinite skips and unlimited downloads, we’re opening the doors for unlimited music discovery," said Jyrki Rosenberg, Nokias vice president of entertainment.
“This is for people who care enough about music to pay something for more quality and choice, but don’t want to pay €9.99 monthly.”

The new service also lets you listen at eight times the audio quality and access lyrics for those impromptu on-the-fly karaoke sessions.
There are slight limitations however - you cant fire up specific tracks, but instead have to rely on the themed playlists created by Nokia itself. Is it enough to sway folks away from the impending Windows Phone 8 version of Spotify? Let us know in the comments box below.
Polaroid to make Socialmatic camera for Instagram
Instagram, the popular online photo-sharing and social network app is famous for its Polaroid-esque imaging. Socialmatic will turn this retro app into a real-world, instant printout shooterSocialmatic have signed an agreement with accessory makers C&A Marketing to build and sell their concept of a Polaroid Onestep style camera that will print Instagram snaps and even look like the retro icon.
The technical details for this product are currently scarce but from what it suggests a 16GB storage, 4:3 touchscreen, Wi-Fi connectivity and interchangeable lens could be just some of the features available.
With a recent announcement from Polaroid of plans to launch a series of Fotobar stores enabling users to visit and print their snaps, these new plans mark a further point of the companys reinvention.

Kindle Touch updated with new UI Whipersync for Voice and comic book navigation
Still have an old Kindle Touch sitting around? You have some new features to play with. Despite replacing it with a brighter son, Amazon is still updating its original touch sensitive e-reader -- outfitting it with a new UI, enhanced parental controls and Whispersync for Voice, which shares bookmarks between audio and text versions of the same digital tome. Amazons improved the Kindle Touch shopping experience too, adding recommended content offers to users and remembering where they left off in a sample after they purchase the full text. Finally, the company injected the Kindle Touch with better comic and graphic novel navigation -- allowing readers to view their funnybooks panel by panel, rather than by the full page alone. The update will be delivered wirelessly, though users that fancy their USB cable can install the new features the old fashioned way.
