Nvidia unveils Project Shield handheld gaming system

Nvidia has unveiled a new handheld gaming controller or console called Project Shield. The Tegra 4 powered gaming console is a pure Android device that supports all games available in Android devices. This also means that it has access to any game on Google Play. It can stream games from a PC powered by GeForce GTX 650 GPU or higher, accessing titles on its Steam game library from anywhere in the home, over WiFi. Project Shield integrates a 5-inch, 1280 x 720 HD Retinal multitouch display, with 294 dpi. It includes advanced sound processing that Nvidia says rivals Beats Audio-equipped laptops, and a 33Wh battery that provides five to ten hours of play time or 24 hours of HD video playback. Project Shield can also access Android apps such as Hulu, Netflix and Slacker Radio.
Nvidia also promised that in the future, it will add support to wirelessly stream content from the Shield to a television. Nvidia did not reveal the price for Project Shield and on the availability, it says that it will be coming to the US and Canada in the second quarter of this year.
